Peninsula CO-OP
This is Camosun's second year offering the Peninsula Co-op Entrance Award. Through generous donations from Peninsula Co-op, they are able to offer six entrance awards of $1000.00 each. Peninsula Co-op Entrance Awards are awarded to high school students who are entering a full-time post-secondary program in the Fall semester at Camosun, and who have attained outstanding academic achievement upon graduation of high school. In addition to outstanding academic achievement, you or a family member must have an active Peninsula Co-op membership and must have contributed to your community and/or high school in a significant way through volunteer or extra-curricular activities. Thrifty Foods Entrance Award
The Thrifty Foods Entrance Award has been a joint venture between the Camosun College Foundation and Thrifty Foods for many years, but this is the first year the process will be managed by the Financial Aid & Awards Office. There are five awards of $1000.00 each available to student who are graduating from a public high school in any School District in the Greater Victoria area. Thrifty Foods Entrance Awards are awarded to high school students who are entering a full-time post-secondary program at Camosun (academic, career, technical or skilled trade) and who have achieved an above average academic standing (B average or higher) in their graduating year. Princess Auto Foundation Trades Entrance Bursary
This new entrance bursary has been made possible through generous donations from the Princess Auto Foundation. There are five bursaries of $5000.00 each for any student entering a Foundation level trades program beginning before August 20, 2017. (Professional Cook Training program is not eligible).
The Princess Auto Foundation (PAF) is committed to enhancing education and providing opportunities to future tradespeople. It believes strongly in providing funding to trades students who may not otherwise be able to attend college because of their financial circumstances. Click here to apply.
Coast Capital Standing Tall and Education Awards
Apply between May 5th and May 19th.
Standing Tall Awards value: $5,000. 25 awards are given to individuals who are working hard to overcome significant personal challenges to achieve their dreams. To win a Standing Tall Award, you’ll need to demonstrate courage, determination, and resiliency in overcoming significant personal challenges to achieve your education. Examples of significant personal challenges include, but are not limited to: poverty, health, family issues, personal loss and lack of supports, i.e., youth who are or have been in government care. One Standing Tall winner will be selected as the recipient of the Beth Hutchinson Award, recognizing the young person who best exemplifies a commitment to continuing their post-secondary education in the face of considerable health challenges.
Citizenship Awards value: $2,000. 10 awards are available, awarded to individuals who are taking a leadership role in their communities while successfully balancing their academic and personal lives. To win a $2,000 Citizenship Award, you’ll need to demonstrate leadership activities in your community, have a good academic record, and show a commitment to healthy personal development. Leadership activities include, but are not limited to: motivating peers and community members to respond to a community need, developing an innovative solution that addresses a community issue, and engaging partners (e.g. businesses, non-profit organizations, school administrations, municipal governments, philanthropists, etc.) to work collaboratively to achieve a common goal.
