Maple Leaf Youth Awards
The Canadian Club's Maple Leaf Youth Awards (MLYA) are given to recognize Grade 11 and 12 students in BC who demonstrate exceptional achievements in athletics, arts, and technology, as well as show exemplary contributions to the community while maintaining academic excellence. There are three Maple Leaf Awards: $750, $1000 and $1500. The application submission deadline is April 17.
Monk Office Scholarship
For students entering the field of environmental studies. Application Deadline: April 24 at 2:00pm to Mr. Phipps.
District Authority Award
Each award is $1000. This award recognizes achievement in any of the following areas:
- Fine Arts (visual arts, dance, drama, music)
- Applied Skills (business education, technology education, home economics)
- Physical Activity (including but not limited to Physical Education)
- Second Languages (French, Spanish, Aboriginal Languages)
- Community Service (Volunteer Activity),
- Technical & Trades Training (carpentry, automotive, mechanics, cook training)
C.U.P.E. Local 459 Bursary
C.U.P.E. Local 459 is offering at least two bursaries (of a minimum of $500.00) to Sooke School District graduates who are children of C.U.P.E. employees and are planning to attend a post-secondary institution or a career training/apprenticeship program.
BC School Sports Scholarships- David Gifford Memorial Scholarship and Zone Scholarships
The 400+ Member Schools of BC School Sports are pleased to announce this year's BC School Sports Scholarship Fund. The association is dedicated to assisting worthy student-athletes in their desire to attend an accredited Canadian University or College. The BC School Sports Scholarships reward excellence in both scholastic and athletic pursuits. The successful applicants will be student-athletes who have balanced their high academic achievements with significant success as school athletes and are contributors to their community. Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship Applicants must have competed in at least (2) two BCSS approved sports during grade 12. Unsuccessful applicants for the Dave Gifford Memorial Scholarship will automatically be considered for their respective Zone Scholarship. Zone Scholarship Applicants must have competed in at least (1) one BCSS approved sport during grade 12
- Are in a B.C. School who are graduating this year
- Are entering their first year of full-time studies in a Canadian University or College
- Have demonstrated exceptional athletic achievement in a BCSS sanctioned sport
- Have a minimum grade percentage of 75%
- Have demonstrated outstanding service and leadership in school and/or community
The Educational Facility Managers Association of BC
Four $1,000.00 bursaries, awarded on the basis of academic achievement and/or special needs, to graduates who will enter a recognized post-secondary educational institution in the 2015/2016 term. All applicants MUST be dependents of school district employees in the school plant area (i.e. Maintenance or Custodial). Deadline: April 30.
